See See Look Look: Upstairs Garments opens Singapore’s biggest vintage fashion market
It looks like we can no longer gatekeep Upstairs Garments: the local archival fashion store will be hosting Singapore’s largest vintage fashion market, titled “See See Look Look”, this June. The event will be held in collaboration with Supper House, an art gallery and studio in Tanjong Pagar Distripark.
Put simply, See See Look Look is fashion heaven for those in the know. The pop-up market will feature an exceptional line-up of over 30 vintage fashion stores from around the world. Some standouts are the Virginia-based TuMuchClothes, which stocks rare menswear pieces from European and Japanese fashion labels; Blocstore, the Bangkok boutique that curates archival designs from the likes of Raf Simons, Rick Owens, and Balenciaga; and Vietnam’s Spot Hideout, which houses vintage Maison Margiela, Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake and more.
There are also some if-you-know-you-know names in the mix, like Bangkok’s Grindhouse, Malaysia’s Archive Gems, and the Manila-based Urfiloplug, which runs a Grailed page selling pieces from Bape and Chrome Hearts.
Some of the grails that you can cop at the pop-up include a Saint Laurent Napoleon jacket, designed by Hedi Slimane; the Dior Rasta Saddle bag, a coveted memento from John Galliano’s Dior days; and a dress from Commes des Garçons’s Fall/Winter 1993 collection.
See See Look Look will also spotlight Singapore’s fashion scene. Expect to see offerings from beloved vintage fashion stores Stakeout and Loop Garms, as well as the newer Arkive, a concept store curated by Mae Tan. You’ll also encounter homegrown independent labels like Guised, which offers handcrafted leather bags and accessories, and Iscariotpisces, which has a line-up of edgy, one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces in sterling silver.
“Every vendor at this market is someone we genuinely believe in,” says Vegas Lee, one of the four Gen Z co-founders of Upstairs Garments. “We approached friends from around the world, people who are doing important work and asked them to be part of this.”
Lee, along with his similarly entrepreneurial and fashionable friends Adrienne Chrisdee, Ong Ker Hsien, and Xavier Eger, founded Upstairs Garments in 2024. The archival fashion store is possibly Singapore’s best-kept secret: it’s located in the attic of a Tanjong Pagar shophouse and stocks quite an array of tailoring and ready-to-wear pieces, namely from the Antwerp Six designers and cult-favourite Japanese labels like Undercover, Junya Watanabe and Yohji Yamamoto.
See See Look Look will be Upstairs Garments’s biggest flagship event yet. The goal of the event, besides creating a cool and immersive experience for those who are culturally inclined, is to put Singapore’s growing fashion scene on the map.
“Compared to other cities, we still have some catching up to do,” says Ong. “Kuala Lumpur has a more diverse scene, and Bangkok has arguably the best archival fashion scene in Southeast Asia. That’s exactly what we’re trying to challenge.”
See See Look Look will take place at Supper House on June 6 and 7. Throughout the weekend, the pop-up market will also showcase contemporary art, host a library of rare fashion and design print publications, and feature live DJ sets.
