Zendaya knows you can’t go wrong with a gold wedding ring
Zendaya usually makes the headlines for her spectacular outfits, but lately our eyes have been drawn to the actress’s jewellery. At the 2026 Oscars, when she took to the stage to present the award for Best Director, Zendaya wore a pair of branch-like diamond earrings and a matching ring from the Taiwanese jewellery designer Cindy Chao. She also wore her engagement ring (a Jessica McCormack design, with a bezel-set, east-west diamond) and what is assumed to be her wedding ring: a simple gold band.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen that gold wedding ring on Zendaya. At Paris Fashion Week, when she sat front row at the Louis Vuitton show, the Euphoria star pointedly mixed her white gold Clash de Cartier rings with the thin yellow gold band. And the day after the Oscars, when she made her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Zendaya again stacked her engagement ring with the minimalist band.
As far as celebrity wedding rings go, Zendaya’s unembellished ring is a unique choice: most famous brides opt for something showy, or even a sparkling diamond eternity band, like the ones that Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez wore on their wedding days. But the simplicity of Zendaya’s gold ring, which is not exactly designed to draw attention, is aligned with her preference to be low-key about her personal life. “Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public,” she told Elle in 2023. “I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share.”
As it happens, there’s another really famous figure who liked to keep her life as private as possible, and who, after she got married, sported a plain gold ring: Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, aka CBK, everyone’s style muse of the moment. CBK and John F. Kennedy turned to jewellery designer Gogo Ferguson to create their matching wedding rings: gold bands cast from the rib of a rattlesnake, with their initials and wedding date inscribed. The ring was true to the minimalist style of CBK, who rarely wore jewellery and who walked down the aisle in a slip dress. Ferguson shared, “[Bessette] loved simple designs, and she didn’t need much because she was so beautiful.”
The simplicity of her wedding ring meant that Besette Kennedy could wear it on its own with every outfit. As for Zendaya, her gold band offers even more styling options because of its pared-back design: she can pair it with her engagement jewel without looking too flashy, and it won’t clash (pardon the pun) with her Clash de Cartier pieces, for example.
Of course, the question remains: is that really Zendaya’s wedding ring? We have good reason to believe it is: at the Actor Awards earlier this month, Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach told Access Hollywood, “The wedding already happened. You missed it.” But the band could also be a literal accessory to Zendaya’s method dressing for her upcoming film, The Drama, in which she and her co-star Robert Pattinson play a couple about to be married. (As we’ve seen during both the Dune and Challengers press tours, Zendaya and Law Roach take method dressing very seriously.)
There is one thing we know for sure: a gold wedding ring goes a long way.
